Common Cold Among Children

Common Cold is among the most common reason for visit to a doctor. There are about 100 different types of rhinoviruses along with other viruses such as influenza and sarscov2 which can cause symptoms like common cold. Generally 6-8 episodes of common cold can occur in kids below the age of 6 years

Symptoms

• Mild fever for less than 3 days

• Loss of appetite

• Headache

• Symptoms last about 5-7 days

What You Can Do

• Use Saline Nasal Drops

• Increase Fluid Intake

• Paracetamol can be given for fever

• No antibiotics required

When To Be Concerned

• High grade fever lasting more than 3 days

• Breathing Difficulty

• Ear pain or Discharge

• Increased Coughing

• Thick yellow or green nasal discharge

• Not eating or extreme lethargy
