HMPV(Human Meta Pneumo Virus)

This is a virus that was first identified in 2001. Lately there has been a sudden surge in cases reported from China. Some cases have been identified in India from different parts of the country.
What We Know So Far
The virus generally causes common cold like mild illness but can lead to severe disease in people with underlying health issues or with a weak immune system. Although it can affect any age group however, young children especially below 5 years and people above the age of 65 years are at a greater risk.
Symptoms
Running nose, cough, nasal congestion, fever
Can cause breathing difficulties and exacerbation of symptoms of asthma
Can lead to Pneumonia and Bronchiolitis
How it spreads
It is a respiratory virus, so, it spreads primarily through:
Air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
By touching infected surfaces and then touching your mouth , nose or eyes
Close proximity with an infected person person
Prevention
Cover mouth and nose when in close proximity to any sick person
Wash hands after touching any surfaces
Do not touch your mouth face eyes or nose after touching any surfaces or shaking hands
