1. Baby Breast Enlargement

There can be enlargement of the breast nodule in newborns. This is due to transfer of maternal hormones from the mother to the new born baby. It should be left alone. The breast area should not be massaged and no fomentation should be done. By doing so you could aggravate it. The swelling will go away on its own in a few days.

2. Bleeding from the vagina (female baby)

Noticing blood from the private part of your baby can make parents alarmed and cause them to panic. There is nothing to worry about, it is normal. Menstrual like bleeding may occur in a female baby in the first week of her life and may last for 2-4 days. No special treatment is needed except for local cleaning.

3. Orange or red stains on diaper

The red or orange stains on the nappy of a newborn can be very alarming for the parents. This is normal and is due to urate crystals in the urine. This disappears on its own in a few days.

4. Blue or Black spots on the back

These are called Mongolian spots .They are usually seen on the buttocks but may be seen on other parts. They fade away as the baby grows.

5. Red pimples on the face

Babies commonly get red pimples on the nose, forehead and cheeks. These are called baby acne. Gentle cleaning with water and mild cleanser is enough. Creams and oil may make it worse. They are self limiting and generally go away in a few weeks.
